Legendary Tales
Through the legendary tales surrounding the life of Shaikh ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani, we can piece together the following biographical sketch:
At the age of eighteen, in the year 488 AH, Shaikh ‘Abd al-Qadir
al-Jilani left his hometown and embarked on a journey to the illustrious city of Baghdad. Baghdad was not only a hub of political, commercial, and cultural activities but also a center of religious scholarship in the Islamic world. There, he pursued his studies under various teachers, including the renowned Hanbali jurist, Abuu Sa’d ‘Ali al-Mukharrimii. However, it was his encounter with the spiritually inclined Abu’l-Khair Hammaad ad-Dabbaas that had a profound impact on him…
If you visit Baghdad, you should pay homage to the revered Ghaus-e-Azam and take the opportunity to explore the tombs of the Imams and other esteemed saints of Islam resting there. It is a city filled with the rich heritage of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Golden Age of Islam. Regardless of our origins, there is a connection that binds us to this remarkable place. From Karbala to Al Khadimain Shrine to the Museum, Baghdad has a plethora of offerings that showcase the beauty and significance of Islamic culture.
